The Top Rated Pho Bo in Hanoi, Vietnam

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

Pho Thin (fu-Thin) is a 3rd generation family restaurant that only serves out of this world Pho Bo (beef noodle soup). The location is almost as good as the soup, sitting across the street from the north east corner of Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi's central tourism district, the 'Old Quarter'. Located in a small lane between two buildings with rudimentary weather covering, this tiny shop offers GREAT Pho Bo, without frills. But what you do get is classic old-school Hanoi charm, superb soup and friendly, quick service.

Their menu consists of only soup and meat - Rare Steak - Lean Brisket - Fatty Brisket & Flank.

The price is around 65,000 VND ($2.80 USD) for a standard bowl with a couple of meat selections.

An egg can be added to your soup for 5000 VND (Twenty Cents) and Quay (Fried Chinese Dough) for dipping into your soup, can be added for 10,000 VDN (Forty Cents).

Due to the location, Pho Thin is quite small with a seating capacity of only around 12 people.

So wait times can be long during busy hours.

Accoutrements include Chinese fried dough and Iced Tea that is served by a different vendor

on the left as you walk in the front door.
